Pennant Birthday!

So I am just loving the new stamp set Pennant Parade that will be available in the new catalog on Friday. And the punch is awesome - no more cutting out each individual pennant - how awesome is that!!!

Anyway, today's card is a birthday card using the Pennant Parade stamp set and Bring on the Cake. It is really simple now that we have a punch to punch out pennants! I used markers to color in the line art and draw some accents around the edges. It would be just as cute without them! It was just a little something extra.

Circle Punch Flowers

Okay, this card is so not my normal style, but I love it. I got the idea from my friend Pam D'Urso on her blog here. I just had to do it, but change a few things. For one, I do not have the stamp set that she used for the stems, so I used strips of Lucky Limeade paper to create stems.  Also, I was making some of the sewn books from yesterday's post and created what I thought was a really cute sun with the peach parfait and so saffron punched items. Well anyway, you can see what I mean. I hope you like today's post.

Super Easy Sewn Books

This is an idea that I found in blog world. If you are like me, you are always looking for a scrap piece of paper in your purse. Well, why not keep all of your notes in this cute little book. They are easy to make. Directions can be found on the following link here. I hope you enjoy them. I am thinking of making them for my roommates at Convention.

This is the first time that I have ever used my sewing machine to sew on paper. It was really easy, but not without a challenge or two.  I will definitely be doing this again. I made 5 in a matter of 30 minutes. And you can get 2 books out of 1 sheet of 12x12 paper.

Happy Monday

Woo Hoo, it's Monday! I know, you are not suppose to be happy about Mondays, but for some reason I always am. I like the start of new weeks. It just reminds me that I am getting to start another one. (And no I am not that old!) However, during the summer, Mondays mean that another school year is getting closer but that's okay I love teaching!

Well, now let's look at the card. One day my family and I would love to go to the beautiful city of Paris and so that is the inspiration for this card. We have been talking about it lately. Hopefully, we will get there next summer.

The embellishment is one of the stamps from Artistic Etchings stamped on Shrink Plastic. Then I punched a hole in the center and used my heat tool to shrink the plastic. I think it makes a fun embellishment.I hope you think so too! I also used the same stamp and Cherry Cobbler ink to make a watermark on the card base.

Birthday Pennants

Today's card is a simple, yet cute birthday card. I am going to call my Saturday posts -  Something Simple on Saturday - from here on out! So that means on Saturday's you are going to see a simple card that anyone can do.

I know you are screaming - that does not look simple!!! What is she thinking? Well, what I am thinking is that all this card uses is one stamp set, one punch, designer series paper and some markers. It really is easy!!!

It also uses some items that will be available on July 1st in the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog. You will be able to order all of these items on my website (daniestamps.stampinup.net) starting at noon (MT) on July 1st.

On another note, the girl got home from camp yesterday! I was so glad to see here. She had to make me stop hugging here - but hey she let me hug her in the first place so I am okay with that. The girl is 14 going on 25! She had a great time at camp! Praise God we had no breathing issues! I am looking forward to spending the day with her today shopping and hanging out. Embossed Doilie

Three days in a row - I can't believe it!

Enough about that, let's talk about this card. Isn't it a beauty? I just love this set that will be available July 1st when our new catalog comes out. It is a preview set right now that demonstrators are allowed to preorder to prepare for the new catalog. A perk to being a demonstrator.

The card is made with Whisper White, Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler cardstock. It uses basic black striped ribbon, versamark, basic black ink and white embossing powder. I just have to find the right person to send it to for their birthday. Who wouldn't love getting this!!!

Also, today is the day my sweet girl comes home from camp! I can't wait to see her. She has been gone since Monday and life has not been the same without her here. She really does add a different dynamic to our home and is such a blessing.

Paper flower made with Scallop punch

Isn't this paper flower just the cutest thing? I found the idea when I was blog hopping the other day and I just had to try it. You can find all the details on how to make it at the Queen of Ink http://queen-of-ink-kz.blogspot.com/2011/06/paper-flower-technique-tutorial.html here. She has it on a card, but I am thinking about using it on the front of a notebook. I have not decided yet. When I do, I will show it the finished project. For now, I am going to make some more flowers. They are just too easy and too cute. The possibilities are endless. I could add some sparkle by putting Dazzling Diamonds on the edges of the flower. Oh, I almost forgot one thing I did differently, is instead of just water, I used body spray (Honeysuckle to be exact). It meets the same purpose but you get the added benefit of a sweet smelling flower. How great is that?

I am going to try to schedule several posts over the next few days while the girl is out of town and the creative juices are flowing. I have another really great card for tomorrow.

Big Delay

Okay - so the new start was a bust. What was I thinking? I wasn't apparently because I did not go anywhere but posting and then set down the computer apparently. I wish I could say that was true - but like everything in my life, I am terrible at follow through. I have a thousand projects started and very few finished. There are no excuses or explanations - just a realization that I did not make blogging a priority.

So with all of that said, I will say that I am going to do better. It will not be a year and a half between posts. I promise!

Here is what has been going on in the Adams' family for the last 18 months or so. Life that is what has been happening. We now have two children in high school and one that will be driving soon - WOW where did the time go? Our business is doing well even in this terrible economy. We are so thankful that God is so faithful - even we are not. I am still teaching at high school - much to my children's pleasure not at the same one they attend. We have just had the first sign of real rain in our area since the beginning of the year. And I am getting ready for another Stampin' Up Convention - and I can't wait.

So here is one of the things that I will be swapping at Convention. (I know you are not suppose to show before the convention, but I am just too excited). It is very easy to make and uses the Big Shot and Sizzix die that are sold by SU!

To make this snowflake you will need the following items:

Aluminum Foil
Anywhere Glue Stick (104045)
Big Shot
Snowflake Die
Cherry Cobbler Paper
Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine
Bone folder or ruler
Small hole punch or awl

To create the snowflake:

1. Glue foil to the Cherry Cobbler paper - cover paper in anywhere glue and lay foil on top - use a bone folder or ruler to press out the foil.
2. Trim excess foil from edge of paper.
3. Cut paper to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece (you will get 4 out of an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of paper.
4. Make your big shot sandwich using the die, paper and cutting plates.
5. Run the whole thing through your Big Shot. (I only did one at a time!)
6. Punch small hole in top of snowflake.
7. Attach baker's twine and tie a knot.
8. You have a great, inexpensive ornament to share!

I will be making several for a dear friend that just moved to Memphis. When she saw them she had to have some for her tree!
